Camelid Education Opportunity

Alpaca Education for Veterinarians

Did you ever wish that your veterinarian had more comprehensive experience with alpacas? Well, here’s your opportunity to help one lucky New England/New York State vet have a chance to spend a week with one of the most experienced alpaca practitioners around!

NEAOBA is proud to announce that we will sponsor a vet or vet student from the New England/NY area for a one week course with Dr Steve Purdy in the North American Camelid Studies Program in Belchertown, MA during the week of June 1-6, 2020.

From Dr. Purdy:
“The course is very practical in nature based upon my 27 years of camelid medicine, surgery, and research experience. I have attached the course syllabus. Class size is small (4-7 students) allowing for extensive hands on training for all. The farms we visit have been involved with this program for multiple years and represent a variety of management styles in addition to that of our teaching farm which has alpacas, llamas, and donkeys. Students are provided with extensive course notes covering topics covered plus several others. Class discussions are based upon problem solving, drawing on the experience of all participants.”
